Creating AI images might get ridiculously easy soon. Google is working on integrating its advanced AI image generator, Nano Banana, directly into the Google app search bar. According to an APK teardown by Android Authority, this feature will let you generate images without leaving the search interface. Just tap a plus icon, type a prompt, and watch AI-generated images appear inline.
Here is the updated code with the slower, sleeker gold shimmer.

This integration builds on Google’s existing AI image generation capabilities but will make the feature far more accessible. Instead of navigating to specific tools, Nano Banana in the Google app will put image creation right where you already search. The feature appears designed for AI Mode and is part of Google’s broader Gemini AI ecosystem.
Seamless image generation without leaving search
The way it works is pretty easy. Users can tap a plus icon on the left side of the search bar, select “Create images,” and input a descriptive prompt. Nano Banana then generates and displays images inline within the search experience. The integration is similar to Google’s other experiments, such as image generation in Chrome Canary for Android. Based on this, it seems that Google is clearly focused on making generative AI more accessible than ever. This is compared to forcing users to learn new apps or interfaces.
Google’s approach differs from competitors. Microsoft’s Bing already offers AI image generation, but Google’s Nano Banana integration feels more seamless by placing it directly in the search bar. Apple has focused more on on-device AI processing rather than generative image tools. As image creation becomes a native search action, we might see queries change from text-only to visual or multimodal interactions. Instead of searching for existing images, users can simply create what they need on the fly.
Google hasn’t announced when this feature will officially launch. However, the discovery in an APK teardown suggests the company is actively testing it. Based on Google’s pattern of rolling out AI features gradually, Nano Banana in the Google app could arrive in the coming months.
