According to the ministry, the newly launched MPT-CERT will serve as the operational hub for continuous monitoring of cyber threats, incident analysis and coordinated response efforts across entities within the postal and telecommunications sector.
Algeria has launched a new Sectoral Center for Vigilance, Detection and Response to Cyber Incidents (MPT-CERT) as part of efforts to strengthen cybersecurity and enhance the digital resilience of its postal and telecommunications sector. The inauguration was overseen by Minister of Posts and Telecommunications Sid Ali Zerrouki in the presence of Min Kyung-tee during a cybersecurity forum held in Algiers on June 15.
The forum brought together government officials, industry stakeholders, cybersecurity experts and international partners to discuss current and emerging cyber threats, as well as strategies to improve the protection of critical digital infrastructure. The event forms part of Algeria’s broader national strategy to strengthen prevention, detection and response capabilities across the information and communications technology ecosystem.

Authorities view the center as a key component in safeguarding the country’s digital sovereignty and improving preparedness against increasingly sophisticated cyber risks.
The event also highlighted growing cybersecurity cooperation between Algeria and South Korea. South Korean officials emphasized ongoing support through training, skills development and knowledge-sharing initiatives, including assistance provided by Korea International Cooperation Agency to strengthen Algeria’s cyber defense capabilities. Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to expanding collaboration in cybersecurity, incident response and capacity building.
The ministry said it will continue investing in cybersecurity infrastructure, workforce development and advanced defense technologies to ensure a secure and resilient national cyberspace aligned with international standards.
