A new study examines how large language models perform in a variety of medical contexts, including real emergency room cases — where at least one model seemed to be more accurate than human doctors. The study was published this week in Science and comes from a research team led by physicians and computer scientists at Harvard Medical School and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. The researchers said they conducted a variety of experiments to measure how OpenAI’s models compared to human physicians. In one experiment, researchers focused on 76 patients who came into the Beth Israel emergency room, comparing the…

There is no practical benefit for Kyber developers to have chosen a PQC key-exchange algorithm. The Kyber ransom note gives victims one week to respond. Quantum computers capable of running Shor’s algorithm—the series of mathematical equations that allow the breakage of RSA and ECC (elliptic curve cryptography)—are, at a minimum, three years away and likely much further. A Kyber variant that targets systems running VMware, meanwhile, claims to use ML-KEM as well. Rapid7 said its look under the hood revealed that, in fact, it uses RSA with 4096-bit keys, a strength that will take even longer for Shor’s algorithm to break.…

In late 2025, WhatsApp’s beta version of the app hinted at an upcoming design overhaul, in line with the so-called Liquid Glass design language that Apple started using with its most recent iOS. Users started reporting small UI elements being redesigned along with the main chat screen. A new report from WABetaInfo, however, suggests that WhatsApp is almost ready to release a redesigned in-chat interface. Interestingly, the changes aren’t available even to beta users, but WABetaInfo managed to activate the new interface that now includes a floating chat bar and a translucent navigation bar. Don’t hold your breath just yet,…
It was love at first sight. It felt like scouring the mall, dipping in and out of sprawling department stores in search of a specific, elusive item, only to finally find what you’re looking for. Only, I didn’t even know I was searching for something like the Xteink X3, because I never dared dream of something so delightful: a tiny, MagSafe-compatible e-ink reader that could attach to my iPhone like a Pop Socket. This was it. My life would change forever. I would get my hands on the Xteink X3, and I would stop doomscrolling forever. I would read more…
The Apple iPhone Air wasn’t the first super-slim phone, but it was the phone that started the craze, anyway – Apple has that effect on the market. Right now, the phone is up to €480 off. That gets you a 6.5” LTPO display (120Hz) and the powerful Apple A19 Pro chipset. The 3,149mAh battery is oh-so-small, but it still achieved a decent 12:44h Active Use Score – and there’s a variety of MagSafe products out there that can help to extend the runtime. There’s no fixing the single 48MP (1/1.56”) camera situation, though. The Apple iPhone 17 is…
The developers are urging all developers who installed version 0.23.3 to take the following steps immediately: 1. Check your installed version: pip show elementary-data | grep Version 2. If the version is 0.23.3, uninstall it and replace it with the safe version: pip uninstall elementary-data pip install elementary-data==0.23.4 In your requirements and lockfiles, pin explicitly to elementary-data==0.23.4. 3. Delete your cache files to avoid any artifacts. 4. Check for the malware’s marker file on any machine where the CLI may have run: If this file is present, the payload executed on that machine. macOS / Linux: /tmp/.trinny-security-update Windows: %TEMP%\\.trinny-security-update 5.…
vivo set the benchmark with the X300 Ultra – a €2,000 camera flagship – while the Xiaomi 17 Ultra has a “modest” €1,500 price. Now the Oppo Find X9 Ultra looks to topple the competition with an in-between price tag of €1,700. The phone certainly impressed in our review, though the outcome of the vivo vs. Oppo Ultra final battle is yet to be decided. We also went hands-on with the Hasselblad Earth Explorer Kit for the Oppo Find X9 Ultra. This kit contains a 300mm add-on lens, an adapter for 67mm filters and a lens collar with a tripod…
“Current evidence indicates that this data originated from Checkmarx’s GitHub repositories, and that access to those repositories was facilitated through the initial supply chain attack of March 23, 2023,” Checkmarx said Monday. The company didn’t say what kinds of data were leaked. Checkmarx isn’t the only security company to suffer the aftereffects of the Trivy breach. Socket said that another security firm, Bitwarden, was also hit in the same supply-chain attack. Socket tied the Bitwarden breach to the Trivy campaign because the payload used the same C2 endpoint and core infrastructure as the Checkmarx malware. Bitwarden said that a malicious…
