vivo set the benchmark with the X300 Ultra – a €2,000 camera flagship – while the Xiaomi 17 Ultra has a “modest” €1,500 price. Now the Oppo Find X9 Ultra looks to topple the competition with an in-between price tag of €1,700. The phone certainly impressed in our review, though the outcome of the vivo vs. Oppo Ultra final battle is yet to be decided.
We also went hands-on with the Hasselblad Earth Explorer Kit for the Oppo Find X9 Ultra. This kit contains a 300mm add-on lens, an adapter for 67mm filters and a lens collar with a tripod mount.
Oppo Find X9 Ultra
If you think that the kit is a bit too much, then you probably think that the X9 Ultra is too much as well – casual users will be better served by the Oppo Find X9 Pro. The Ultra is only worth the money if you’re going to get the most out of the camera system. That is not to say that the Hasselblad kit is a must-have – the phone’s four on-board lenses are plenty capable without external help, but being “extra” is what this phone is all about.
There’s no agreed-upon definition of what an “Ultra” phone is – every manufacturer has its own take and some use a mixture of Pro / Max / XL as the name. So, the Oppo Find X9 Ultra competes with the vivo X300 Ultra and Xiaomi 17 Ultra. But is the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra in the same category? What about the iPhone 17 Pro Max, Google Pixel 10 Pro XL and Honor Magic8 Pro?
And to get to the point, will you buy the Oppo Find X9 Ultra or will you be better served by another phone?
The company also unveiled the Oppo Find X9s this week – well, that and the 6.3” X9s Pro, but the X9s Pro is only for China. The X9 Ultra and X9s are going global, including a launch in India.
Anyway, the Find X9s is a cheaper variant of the X9. It uses the Dimensity 9500s instead of the regular 9500. Despite its name, the X9s chipset has more in common with the Dimensity 9400 than the 9500. The “s” phone also loses the wireless charging option for its 7,025mAh battery, but capacity and wired charging (80W) are the same.

Oppo Find X9s highlights
Exact pricing for the Oppo Find X9s hasn’t been revealed for all markets yet, though taking Malaysia as an example, the X9s is on pre-order for MYR 3,600 (7% off its MSRP of MYR 3,900) for a 12/512GB variant, while the original X9 is MYR 4,000 (no discounts at the moment) for a 16/512GB unit. In short, don’t expect a major discount when the X9s launches.
But once that happens, would you buy one?
