At this point in time, it’s probably safe to say that Google’s spent the last few years building up its many AI models and features and injecting these into all of its other software products. One example is “Video Remix,” a new AI-powered editing feature within Google Photos that lets users create stylized, shareable video clips all from their smartphone.
According to Google, the new tool is powered by the company’s Gemini Omni model, and “eliminates” the need for professional editing skills by allowing users to create videos using a library of easy-to-use templates. As per the company:
Video Remix helps you make inspired content in seconds. Instantly apply cinematic relighting to spruce up a dark clip, swap out a plain background for something fun, or add artistic treatments, such as watercolor, raw sketchbook and oil painting effects.
The new feature is accessible via the Google Photos “Create” tab, and users can access a ton of different features such as instantly applying cinematic relighting to fix dark clips, swapping out plain backgrounds for dynamic alternatives, or applying a number of different filters on their clips.
Video Remix begins rolling out today to eligible Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers, and includes users in the United States, Argentina, Bangladesh, Brazil, Colombia, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Pakistan, the Philippines, South Korea, and Turkey.
