Earlier this year, a rumor revealed that Oppo and Huawei may offer a square selfie sensor on their upcoming flagships. Meanwhile, another recent leak claimed that Oppo will use a 100MP sensor. Now, fresh leaks suggest that the Honor Magic9 could also get a square selfie camera.
According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the upcoming Oppo Find X10 series will feature a Samsung-developed 100MP selfie camera sensor with a 1:1 square format. The sensor is said to measure 1/2.5 inches in size.

In a separate Weibo post, the tipster also claimed that Honor is testing a 100MP front-facing camera for its upcoming Magic9 lineup. The series is reportedly being evaluated with the OVA0B sensor, which measures 1/1.8 inches and is expected to be cropped into a 1:1 square format.
DCS further reiterated previous claims about the Magic9’s rear camera setup, stating that the lineup is expected to feature a 200MP primary camera alongside a 64MP periscope telephoto lens. According to the tipster, Honor is currently testing multiple 200MP sensors for the main camera, including the 1/1.28-inch OV52A and OV52B, as well as the larger 1/1.12-inch OVB0D sensor.

A square-format selfie camera, as found on the iPhone 17 series, enables users to capture selfies in both portrait and landscape orientations without needing to rotate the phone. The larger 1:1 sensor format also allows for a wider field of view, making it easier to fit more people or background elements into the frame.
