Late last year, YouTube announced that it was introducing a timer tool for Shorts content, which allowed users to temporarily hide short-form videos on their app, with a limit of up to 15 minutes. That said, YouTube later provided additional updates for parental controls, with a promise of a “zero minute” time limit coming soon.
According to a new report from the folks over at The Verge, it looks like the zero minute limit is now active for all users (including parents), which effectively hides Shorts videos from your app permanently, at least as long as the feature remains active. To enable the feature, users can open their YouTube app and head on over to Time management > Shorts feed limit and then select their desired time limit.
At the moment, this is the only way to “turn off” the Shorts feed on the YouTube app, as the platform has pretty much pushed short-form content in the past few years.
In other recent news, Google announced that it is offering 50% off YouTube Premium for 12 months to eligible Google One Premium subscribers. This brings it down to around $8 a month for a full year, which is a pretty sweet deal, albeit temporarily.
