Last year, the Nothing Phone (3a) was voted as having a better value than its (3a) Pro sibling, while people that might have bought the Pro were instead pulled towards the then-upcoming Nothing Phone (3) flagship. So, when we posted last week’s poll, we were sure that the (4a) would prevail over its Pro sibling. After all, the Nothing Phone (4a) closed the camera gap to the Pro. But look at its poll results – 25% of voters prefer the Pro, while some 40% of the vote is split between people who like it to various degrees with pricing emerging…
Kalshi isn’t having a very good week. On Tuesday, the attorney general of Arizona filed a 20-count criminal complaint against the online prediction market, accusing it of running an illegal gambling business. Now, another southwestern state has taken a big swing at the company: A judge in Nevada has temporarily banned the service from operating there as part of an ongoing court case brought by state regulators. Nevada, on behalf of its Gaming Control Board, sued Kalshi in February in an effort to block the prediction site from operating. Officials maintain that Kalshi has failed to acquire the appropriate gaming…

The first full week of sales of the Samsung Galaxy S26 series is now behind us. While we can’t expect to see price movement this quickly, there was the smallest twitch. The Galaxy S26 Ultra has not budged and we don’t expect it to anytime soon considering that it is by far the most popular of the three models. The Galaxy S26+ hasn’t moved either. The Samsung Galaxy S26, however, had a $45 price drop for its 256GB model. It’s just a 5% discount, so it’s nothing to write home about yet, but it is the…
CEO Jensen Huang took the stage at Nvidia’s GTC conference this week in his signature leather jacket to deliver a two-and-a-half-hour keynote, projecting $1 trillion in AI chip sales through 2027, declaring that every company needs an “OpenClaw strategy,” and closing with a rambling Olaf robot that had to get its mic cut. The message was hard to miss: Nvidia wants to be foundational to everything, from AI training to autonomous vehicles to Disney parks. On this episode of TechCrunch’s Equity podcast, Kirsten Korosec, Anthony Ha, and Sean O’Kane break down what Nvidia’s growing web of AI infrastructure partnerships actually means for startups, and discuss more of the week’s headlines. Nothing has new over-ear headphones on the market, and they make the already aggressively-priced Nothing Headphone (1) seem overpriced. At £149 / $199 / €159, you’re getting a lot for not a lot. Let’s see the box. The Nothing Headphone (a) ships with a simple carrying bag, a USB-C cable, and a 3.5mm cable. The bag isn’t padded, so it won’t protect the headphones from damage, but you’ve gotta cut some corners to get a great deal. The Headphone (a) packs 40mm titanium-coated drivers, has three-level ANC, LDAC support, and a Hi-Resolution Audio Wireless certification. On the outside, the headphones…
Hachette Book Group said it will not be publishing a novel called “Shy Girl” over concerns that artificial intelligence was used to generate the text. The novel was scheduled to be published in the United States this spring. Hachette said it will also discontinue the book in the United Kingdom, where it’s already available. Although the publisher claimed the decision came after a thorough review of the text, reviewers on GoodReads and YouTube had been speculating that the book was likely AI-generated. And The New York Times said it asked Hachette about the “Shy Girl” concerns the day before the…

In an interview, Sony PlayStation’s lead system architect, Mark Cerny, said that the company is working closely with AMD to deliver AI-powered frame generation to PlayStation. The main goal is to improve the frame rate without having to rely on more powerful hardware. Sony and AMD are already working on Project Amethyst, which is a graphics machine learning tech specifically tuned for PlayStation’s hardware. AMD’s upcoming FSR Redstone suite lays the foundation of the project, and it delivers not just upscaling but also frame generation and ray reconstruction. Interestingly, the currently existing PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution feature already shares some…
