Not too long after the official roll-out of its online book store, Spotify more recently announced that it’s expanding its digital ecosystem today with the launch of guided workout experiences, which integrates fitness routines alongside its existing product offerings. This allows users to access professional training content without leaving the Spotify app.
That said, the new expansion will feature curated playlists and video content from prominent wellness creators, in addition to a new partnership with Peloton. This deal gives Premium subscribers (in select markets) with ad-free access to a library of over 1,400 on-demand classes, including workouts without any need for special equipment.
According to data from Spotify, fitness is already a primary driver for the platform, with over 150 million active fitness playlists globally and nearly 70% of Premium users working out monthly. Roman Wasenmüller, VP and Global Head of Podcasts at Spotify states:
For nearly two decades, Spotify has been the soundtrack to the world’s workouts. But listening was only the beginning. Today, we are expanding Spotify to become a true daily wellness companion. By bringing thousands of creators and partners like Peloton directly into our video and audio ecosystem, we are investing in a future where Spotify isn’t just where you spend your time—it’s where you go to build momentum, improve your wellbeing, and get more out of every day.
Additionally, the new fitness integration allows users to kick off a video workout on a smart TV for example, and then transition to audio for an outdoor run. To access the new feature, users can simply search “fitness” within the app to enter the dedicated hub. While the Peloton catalog is reserved for Premium members, both Free and Premium subscribers will have access to the broader wellness creator content.
It should be noted that fitness sessions are currently available in English, Spanish, and German, with offline download options as well.
