Just recently, we found out the Spotify was testing a new “Page Match” feature which lets users sync their reading progress between physical copies of their books along with their electronic copies. We have to admit that it’s a rather handy tool, and Spotify is planning to launch it near the end of February for users on both Android and iOS. Part of its official announcement reads:
We believe that when you find a book that has you completely hooked, you shouldn’t have to put it down. Instead of stopping or losing momentum when you need to hop in the car or go for a run, now you can keep the story going. Page Match is an industry-first feature that lets you move between physical books or e-books and their audiobook counterparts with just a quick scan.
With that being said, here’s how you can use the feature once it rolls out for your device:
- Open the Spotify app and find the title that you’re reading.
- Tap the Page Match button.
- Use your camera to scan a page in your physical book.
- Spotify will then find your corresponding spot in the audiobook.
- You can scan again to find the right place in the text if you want to go back to your physical copy
The platform also recently announced that it has teamed up with Bookshop.org to allow users to buy physical copies of books via the Spotify app itself.
