Following the initial testing of its new “Page Match” feature for audiobooks, Spotify recently announced that’s partnered with Bookshop.org to let users purchase physical copies of books via the app itself. The new shopping feature is set to arrive in Spring, and will be initially available for users in the US and UK. Andy Hunter, Founder and CEO of Bookshop.org comments:
We are excited to see the impact Spotify’s scale will have for local bookstores… By meeting readers where they are and linking to Bookshop.org, Spotify is financially supporting indie booksellers with each purchase.
According to data shared by the platform, physical books still make up a considerable chunk of publishing revenue, amounting up to as much as 73% based on sales figures in 2025. Spotify adds that book purchases made via the app will directly support bookshops and authors, and is designed to “connect discovery on Spotify with physical ownership.”
