Nearly two years after some serious “will they-won’t they” tension, it looks like Apple’s almost-forgotten Vision Pro headset has finally gotten an official YouTube app, which confirms that Google was serious about bringing the world’s most popular content streaming platform to visionOS users.
In terms of features, YouTube for the Vision Pro supports a full range of content, including standard 2D videos and YouTube Shorts on a theater-sized virtual screen, alongside a dedicated Spatial tab for immersive 3D, 360-degree, and VR180 videos. Additionally, users with the newer M5-equipped Vision Pro can access 8K playback support, while the older M2 model is limited to 4K resolution content.
The app also offers complete account integration with access to subscriptions, playlists, and watch history, and also features optimized gesture controls that let viewers resize windows or dim their virtual environments for a more focused, “lean-back” viewing experience. It’s also available in several languages worldwide, although users will need to have visionOS 26.0 installed on their device to run the app.
One of the biggest caveats of the Vision Pro upon release was the lack of official support from apps like Netflix, Spotify and YouTube (at the time), which led to some users trying out third-party alternatives to access such content.
