One of the best Android skins available right now is Samsung’s One UI. We have seen One UI on Samsung’s smartphones, tablets, and even smart TVs. According to a report by SamMobile, Samsung is testing One UI 9.0, based on Android 17, for its upcoming Galaxy Book laptops.
The Android OS that these Galaxy Books are equipped to run on is running on Google’s new and upcoming ChromeOS version, named Aluminum OS. This transition from its existing ChromeOS-powered Galaxy Books to the new Android-based OS will help widen the ecosystem and connectivity between all of Samsung’s smart devices.
Samsung intends to bring the UI consistency across all its devices so that new and existing users can quickly familiarize themselves and not have to opt for a laptop from any other brand that is running a different operating system.
According to reports, Samsung is developing three variants of these new OneUI 9.0-based Galaxy Books – namely an entry-level model, a mid-range model, and a high-end model. Samsung is keen on giving its high-end model a sleek and slim design that is not only lightweight but feels and performs like a premium laptop.
Samsung has begun working on these new Galaxy Books after looking at how Apple’s recently announced MacBook Neo has taken the laptop space by storm, and Samsung is keen on getting a percentage of that market share.
As you would expect, these new Galaxy Books will have all the goodness of One UI as well as the package of AI tools powered by Samsung’s Galaxy AI. What Samsung now has to do is pack these devices with good hardware at each price point and price these devices aggressively in order to get existing and new users who plan on creating a Samsung ecosystem for their home, office, or personal use.
